The Sunnyside Commons is a mixed use space for the community, housing multiple businesses and organizations including on-site counselors, a local church, rotating food trucks, and a Cultivate Coffee cart. We also host various events for the neighborhood such as markets, a clothing donation bank, organic food pickup site, and regular workshops and events to better the community. Our courtyard and WiFi are open to the public and offices and meeting rooms available to rent.
The Sunnyside Commons is a project of Missio Dei Communities. The Phx community of Missio Dei was able to purchase the property at 11747 N. 19th Ave in July of 2025 and immediately got to work renovating the old office building. The goal was to not create another ‘church building’ that is used on Sunday mornings and possibly Wednesday evenings, but sits mostly empty the rest of the week. Instead, they wanted to make a space for the community. While Missio Dei Phoenix does have a Sunday morning service at the Commons (10am), the space is open Tue-Sat to the public, not for religious services, but for the common good of the neighborhood.
We are excited to get this space open and to see the relationships that are formed within it! Some of what we plan for the space include:
